Well, what a find. Booked for 6 for a surprise birthday celebration Grassington House excelled on all fronts. We’d not expected it to be great – good, but not great – so all the better. And the food was truly excellent. We don’t usually list the menu, but the Mango and Crab starter was a triumph. As were all the rest really. Every mouthful enjoyed. Oh, and the lamb. And the Tarte Tatin. Bliss.

Good wine [and good value wine], excellent breakfast…in all a terrific find. Yes, of course we’ll be back. We’ve stayed at some other places in Wharfedale with established reputations and been let down recently, so this was all the more enjoyable.

Great walks from the door and even shops.

Good beer [Thwaites, Black Sheep etc], car park, individually designed bedrooms, attentive and friendly staff, bath/shower stuff by the excellent Sedbergh Soap Company … and fresh milk already in the room ready for a cuppa. Pretty much faultless.
