Luke opened the Test Kitchen after a four year stint as Executive Chef at Le Colombe at the Constantia Uitsig wine estate in South Africa. In 2013 this restaurant was voted Number 61 in the World’s Top 50 Restaurants [!?], so definitely on the way to stardom – although it’s absolutely fine just now. Set in a converted old biscuit mill, alongside a number of other design-led businesses, it has a rustic feel with the kitchen on show right in the middle of the restaurant.
Great food and wines to match – the wine flight was good, and the ever entertaining sight of the food appearing from a calm and dedicated team across the pass. We walked around most of Cape Town, but this is one to take a taxi to.
