And before you ask, it’s not a shop. Though was one once. Could be part of the trendy “find the roots” of the buildings as they become new eateries or drinkeries [?]. Mind you, I suspect the likes of Jamie’s, Weatherspoon’s, All Bar One etc won’t be celebrating their roles as former banking halls anytime soon. We don’t think Shoe Shop would want to be thought of as trendy.
We haven’t been here, but is got such an unusually great review from Giles Coren that it’s worth spreading the word. Shoe Shop – go and try it and see for yourselves before it disappears or gets too swamped – we will. “Coddled eggs and U N Peacekeepers” – magic.
Restaurant Shoe Shop – there’s not much to see but at least the address is there.
Giles Coren’s review is in the Times and you need to be a subscriber to see it – we aren’t. There’s also a review in the Kentish Towner.
