The Sisters, Jordanhill, Glasgow

Well, it’s definitely not going to be in the Top 10 settings…probably not the top 10,000. Down the Crow Road, under the railway bridge, turn up a side street and find the wooden steps off the car park at the back of the shops. Get the picture? However, having got that bad news out of the way, you’ve got a cracking proper local restaurant.

It’s full of homely, well cooked and Scottish flavoured dishes – well sourced meat and fish, and excellent black pudding featuring on starters and mains. We were there last during the Commonwealth Games and the set menu was outstanding value. We ate too much. The Sisters also took part in Tv’s Great British Menu and some of the WW1 dishes make the cut. All Very Comforting.

The decor can be described as cosy, a contrast to their city centre location at Kelvingrove which deploys glass and strong monotones to good effect.

Very friendly and definitely moreish food. Can’t wait to go back

The way in...but don't worry, all is well inside!
