Despite all the reviews you can read, pot-luck is sometimes the best way of finding places. Some friends found this whilst searching for a quick supper after the theatre in Scarborough, and came up with a winner. Slightly off the beaten track, this provided a good imaginative and well cooked lunch. Good wine and beer. They have two cottages, so an overnight stop would be worthwhile instead of the long drive.
We went to see “Roundelay“, the latest play by Alan Ayckbourn, at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, where nearly all his plays are premiered before going to London. Not quite the resolved plot. Five short episodes, the running order decided by ballot before each performance by the audience. Last year’s “Arrivals and Departures” was much more successful.
